# Your first sale in 5 minutes

Sign up with an email, create a product, set a price and a commission, publish and share your link. Live in about five minutes.

Go from signup to a live product in about five minutes.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Sign up

Go to [lid.pro](https://lid.pro) and create an account with your email. That's all you need.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Create your product

Open **My store** in your dashboard and click **New product**. First choose what buyers get: files you upload, or a link to your content. Then add a title and a short description.

![The first step of New product on Lid: "What do buyers get?", with a choice between files and a link, and a preview of how buyers will see the product.](https://1004546140-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FQKVT6WDKWT4P06WmWa57%2Fuploads%2FCrv8xFy9Svg8l4ZcX8Eo%2Fcreate-product-step-1.png?alt=media)
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Set your price

Prices are in dollars. Buyers see the price, you receive the money. Choose **Free** if you want to give it away. You can change the price later: past purchases stay as they were, and the next sales pay the new price.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Set the commission you'll share

Choose what anyone who shares your product earns per sale, from 1% to 50%. It starts at 10%.

{% hint style="info" %}
A higher commission gives more people a reason to share your product.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Publish

Click **Publish**. Your product is live.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Share your link

Every product gets its own link. Post it where your audience is: social, email, group chats.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Questions

<details>

<summary>What does it cost?</summary>

Nothing up front. Lid keeps a flat 3% of each sale, and selling costs $0 a month.

</details>

<details>

<summary>When do I get paid?</summary>

Seconds after each sale, automatically. The money arrives as digital dollars and goes straight to you. Lid never holds it. If you set a refund window, the payment waits until the window ends and then comes to you. Cashing out to a bank account is being built.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Do I need anything technical?</summary>

No. You sign up with your email and Lid handles the rest.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.lid.pro/start-here/quickstart.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
