# Services

Being built. How selling a service on Lid will work: the buyer pays up front, the money is protected until they accept your delivery, then it releases to you in the same second.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Services are being built, and you can't list one today. This page explains how they will work when they open.
{% endhint %}

A service is work you deliver after someone pays: a design, a consult, an edit, a translation. On Lid the buyer pays first, the money is protected while you work, and it releases to you the moment the buyer accepts the delivery.

## How does a service sale work?

1. You create a service in your [dashboard](https://lid.pro/dashboard). You say what you deliver and how long it takes.
2. The buyer pays. The money is set aside in a hold that can only pay you, or go back to the buyer if our team decides a dispute for them.
3. You deliver the work.
4. The buyer accepts. The money releases in that second: your share, the sharer's commission if a link brought the sale, Lid's 3%.

## When do I get paid for a service?

The moment the buyer accepts your delivery. Until then the payment is protected for both sides. Buyers see this on the product page before they pay, which is what makes a stranger say yes.

## What if something goes wrong?

Talk to the buyer first; most things get sorted in one message. If it does not, the buyer can open a dispute from their purchase and a person at Lid looks at it. Email <hello@lid.pro> with the product link and the buyer's email.

## Can people share a service?

Yes. Turn on commission and anyone can share it. When the buyer accepts, the sharer's commission is assigned to them in the same transaction that pays you.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.lid.pro/sell-on-lid/services.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
